Light Up Your Look with a White Suit
I might have gotten a little too dressed up for my visit downtown today, but I’m feeling myself on Inauguration week. This look is inspired by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
I will forever remember the iconic white suit she wore on November 7th, when she told the children of our country that “regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.” She is a true boss lighting the way for women of color in this country, and I’m so here for it, and I’m here for a white suit period.
Part of what I love about fashion is how clothing can make a statement, speaking for you without a mention, but making a lasting impression. In a recent article for the New York Times, Vanessa Friedman describes the deliberate fashion statement Kamala Harris made when wearing a white Carolina Herrera pantsuit with a white silk pussy-bow blouse. Now let’s talk about this show-stopping White Tahari ASL Dress Suit I’m wearing.
This suit dress is amazingly affordable for how chic it looks. This could be a fantastic Boss Lady look for work, or even elevated enough to wear to a banquet or fundraiser. It fits true to size, and the slit and asymmetrical look make it more modern. The belt and pleated look give the illusion of a tighter waist.
